So, whilst recovering from some recent surgery I had, I decided to pass the time by popping in an old tape or two of GL. I was pretty excited about watching it but as I got into my third or fourth hour, I started to get very annoyed with all the recapping!

I don't know why I never noticed it before but some episodes were purely about recapping whatever was done/said in the episode the day before. So, my question for all my fellow soap aficionado's out there is this: How do you feel about storyline recapping? Is it too much or not enough? Do you think that the shows are catering to the sporadic viewers too much and boring the viewers willing to tune in every day?

You know what, Cy, I can't really remember. Soaps have always moved slowly but I don't think I ever felt annoyed or noticed excessive re-capping back in the day. Or else, I enjoyed them enough to not notice it.

I enjoy recapping when it is done to stay true to a show's history. I used to like little shout-out's to the old 4 musketeer days or Vanessa and Ross' relationship many, many years after the fact.

Many things about soap operas annoy me these days. :? But I honestly have no opinion on recapping.

Ah well, the cheese stands alone. :100104~2:

I do like the little shout outs to days gone by, but the constant - almost tedious - recapping of current plots gets under my skin. I was watching Days today and I wasn't bothered by it, but then when was the last time I sat down to watch Days? :giggles:

I only half watch these shows anymore. I've been watching ATWT for as many years as I watched GL. I just don't watch that closely anymore, so I don't notice the recapping.
